Treating Minor Sleep Apnea Snoring Issues with a Boil and Bite Snore Guard

Posted .

Sleep apnea can have several different complications and related symptoms. However, the most common symptom of sleep apnea is snoring. There are several treatment options available to you to resolve snoring issues. It’s a good idea to have your sleep apnea properly diagnosed before committing to any one treatment option.

If you have severe sleep apnea you will need a positive pressure treatment device known as a CPAP machine. People that experience mild to moderate snoring issues as a result of sleep apnea can often find relief by using a snore guard when they sleep at night.

Boil and bite snore guards provide a comfortable custom fit that helps you get the undisturbed sleep you need to be at your best. They are made from a thermoplastic material that becomes pliable when warmed, then firms up again as it cools.

To mold the boil and bite snore guard to your personal bite pattern, you simply soak it in boiling water for a few minutes. Once the material is soft you take it out of the water, give it a moment to cool and bite down on it hard. In a minute or two the snore guard will firm up and hold its shape.

To clean the snore guard each morning, you should rinse it thoroughly under lukewarm water. Avoid using hot water as this can cause the thermoplastic material to deform and will require you to refit the snore guard. Make sure to dry it thoroughly with a clean paper towel and inspect it for any signs of wear and tear.
